The reformed United Effort Plan Trust has successfully completed the Short Creek Subdivision, and for the first time in history, the Trust can distribute Colorado City properties to residents.
The United Effort Plan Trust is a land holding trust which has been instrumental in the pioneering and colonizing of the Short Creek area and was historically under Church control. The Trust was reformed by a Utah court in 2006 and placed under the control of a receiver. The Utah court later transferred control of the Trust to a Board of court-appointed local Trustees.
This marks an important milestone in the Short Creek saga. Properties will be issued to private owners, securing their rights to real property without threat of loss or discrimination. It will also bring the potential of greater economic growth, empowering citizens to start new businesses and build homes independent of the Trust.
